James Burnett Steps Down as Vice President 11pm 3rd May, 2017

QuidditchUK are today saddened to announce that James Burnett will be stepping down from the role of Vice President of the organisation.

James has been a key volunteer at QuidditchUK since January 2014, first in their role as Gameplay Director before moving to become Vice President in late 2015. During their time at QuidditchUK James has been a vital part the organisation, having been key in writing the majority of the documents which are the basis of our organisation such as our constitution, and the majority of tournament and gameplay documentation and policies. They have also been a public face of QuidditchUK nationally and internationally, worked on a vast array of different projects including being the Tournament Director for BQC 2015, and most recently Dev Cup 2017. They have managed to complete this all alongside being a member of Team UK, representing the UK at the 2016 Quidditch World Cup in Frankfurt. James will be in the position until a replacement is found to ensure a smooth handover and transition period.

“I had no idea the scale of what I was becoming a part of when I joined QuidditchUK" said James. "It's been a privilege to participate in something so life changing - and it's certainly changed my life. I'm indebted to everyone who's ever volunteered alongside me and to everyone involved in UK quidditch. Thank you."

Mel Piper, QuidditchUK President had the following to say, “It is with an incredibly heavy heart that it is time for James to leave the organisation. I think I speak on behalf of the entire community when thanking them for all their amazing work and constant time, effort and support over the past 3 and a half years. However, now it is time for there to be a new chapter in QuidditchUK’s history, and the perfect opportunity for someone else to come into the organisation and put their stamp on it.”

Without the contributions of James, QuidditchUK would not be half the organisation it is today and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their incredible work for QuidditchUK, and wish them every future success.
